“…Major McWilliams you are under farewell orders to the Northeast Florida Area Command…”
With those words coming through the phone from the Divisional Commander, (my administrative leader), my family and I began the process of leaving behind Palm Beach County, FL where we’ve been serving for the past 6 years and transferring the 5 hours north on I-95 to Jacksonville. At the time that I’m writing this note to you from West Palm Beach I’m sitting in an office full of packed moving boxes, arranging for a moving vehicle, saying goodbye to dear friends, and wondering what the next years will hold for you and I as we work together to fulfill the mission of the Army in Northeast Florida.
I’m sure that in the time we’re together that we’ll have good days and bad, easy days and hard ones, victories and defeats, and some days that simply go by unnoticed. One of the many wonderful miracles of following and working for the Lord however is that through all of these wonderful and difficult days that He is ever with us. Therefore, whatever lies ahead for us together in ministry let’s hold firm to the promise made to us in Hebrews. “Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Heb 13:5 NKJ).
I look forward to serving together with you and want you to know that my prayers have been with you from the moment I received my farewell orders phone call.
May the Lord Bless you and your families!!!
Maj. Thomas McWilliams
